Hot tubs are comprised of:

  • Jets to help massage aching muscles and will swirl around different parts of the body
  • Seating options that can keep you elevated and sitting in different positions in the hot tub. This is especially important ot experience most of the jets at once.
  • Controls that help to keep track of adjustments and specific heat settings, jet movements, and lighting options
  • The shell, which is the interior surface of the spa or hot tub. Common materials used for this include granite and smooth, pearly surfaces.
  • Pumps, heaters, and filters to keep the spa operating at full capacity
  • Covers that enclose the hot tub spa, keeping it warm and dirt-free if it is outdoors, or simply offering extra protection indoors
  • Upgrades such as pop-up DVD players, televisions, or miniature exercise equipment
  • Cabinets are the holders, or skirting, that keep the hot tub spa in place. These are often made of wood, and can be an attractive feature.

When purchasing a hot tub spa, there are some key decisions to be made during the selection and installation process:

  • Shopping for dealers and arranging for quotes
  • Gathering as much information as possible about hot tub spas
  • Trying it out; many dealers can offer a sample experience in a showroom tub.
  • Think about the primary uses of the spa — relaxation, de-stressing, or parties.
  • Include spa-building plans in any home building or construction arrangements, since installation will be much easier.
  • Setting a budget and finding the best bargain
  • Choosing the color blend for your tastes and budget: this may include marble, granite, slate, stone, or mixtures of various materials. It's important to review samples with the dealer as early in the selection process as possible.
