Wade Arcement, A Swimming Pool Hero!

In early September I wrote a blog titled " A Swimming Pool Hero" about Marcus Sheridan. Marcus is an exceptional individual in that he has done so much to guide and assist all of us in improving on how things are done in the swimming pool business. Through the effective use of the computer and the internet Marcus has openly shared information relevant and important to consumers as well as those that work in the swimming pool industry.
Another exceptional individual that is a unique personality that I must write about is Wade Arcement. Wade is the owner of Arcement Enterprises, Inc. in Raceland, LA. Wade, his lovely wife Marie who has shared his life for 37 years, and son Bart own operate an extremely successful family owned business.
Wade also shares his knowledge with a tight knit group of swimming pool dealers that are all like brothers working together to be better than what they would be by themselves. As competitive as this pool industry can be it is hard for me to understand how this can work until I got to know Wade.
Wade is a very humble modest man that has done much to move the swimming pool industry forward using new and unique methods to further enhance a fiberglass or gunite swimming pool that he is building. But true to his character you won't hear much of that from Wade's lips.
During a recent conversation I learned that Wade over his 35 years as a swimming pool contractor had sold 36 families two pools and at least one of them three! I was stunned as in my career in the fiberglass pool industry I can only recall 6 families that I sold two fiberglass swimming pools to in my 29 year career as a swimming pool contractor.
There is little doubt in my mind that Wade's achievement may very well be a record in the swimming pool industry!
Some questions came to mind. How did Wade accomplish such a sales track record? What is his secret in selling a family more than one pool? Could others duplicate what Wade has done?
I asked Wade for his secret and this is what he told me.
"We all are family here. Customers, suppliers, subcontractors, whoever. We all live here together and we try to do right by each other".
There it is, The Golden Rule "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Internet age yes but those same old principles still hold true.
I would want Wade to build my pool wouldn't you?
