Poolside weddings

Late last August we were approached by a friend of friend for a favor. I for one was very nervous when she said "we need a huge favor". She proceded to tell us that they had a hall booked for there wedding reception for October but just found out that the reception hall double booked and is now telling them, they need to change their date or find another place. I wasn't sure how we could help them until I kept noticing the soon to be bride and groom scoping out our backyard. They had asked if they could have their reception in our backyard by the pool.  I was floored. It is a modest inground pool, nothing over the top but it is the perfect pool for us to swim and have pool parties, birthday parties and picnics. I never imagined  hosting a wedding by the pool.

Well minutes later I had a million ideas. Why not in our backyard? We don't have to live on a plantation, or live in a million dollar home to have a beautiful wedding here. We did though have alot of work to do considering the wedding was 5 weeks away.

Within the week ,she decided to have the service here as well. So not only do we need to plan a reception, but the actual wedding itself. As the first 2 weeks went by, I was surprised with the little that had to be done. Surely we were missing something important. Plannning weddings can be a huge headache.  But I was completely shocked with how things were running so smoothly.

Needless to say, it was such a beautiful wedding. I couldn't have pictured it any better. Guests were leaving and saying what a fabulous reception it was and many were asking if I "rent" out my pool alot for weddings. That's when it hit me. I never imagined I could make money with my pool. I always thought it as a place to have family and friends gather for fun and memories. Now others can have their memories here with their family and friends.

Our inground pool is such an incredible part of our lives. Almost every occasion that is here at our house is in or around the pool. And hopefully in the future, our inground swimming pool will be the setting for some if not all our childrens weddings.
